Food Technology

Our amazing kitchen, the ‘Make it, Bake it' room provides an exciting opportunity for our children to learn about healthy living and cooking from scratch.

Over two years our active Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) raised £32,000 to fund the renovations of an underused space into a modern food technology room.

The money was raised through bazaars, fêtes and events as well as sponsorship by the children. With many cups of tea, coffee and home-made cakes our school has been able to provide this fantastic resource.

Our kitchen offers our children the chance to get involved in the kitchen throughout the day. From early morning breakfast club making eggs, beans and toast to children regularly cooking in class during the day. We also offer an after school club ‘Little Chefs’ where the children enjoy learning about baking.

It is so important for the children to understand the importance of healthy eating. We are passionate about children getting involved in growing their own fruit and vegetables in our large gardens as well as harvesting and cooking the food to a high standard.

We are also able to use the 'Make it, Bake it' room for other activities such as:

  • Making Anglo-Saxon brooches from salt dough
  • Baking WWII recipes to learn about rationing
  • Weighing and measuring linked to Maths
  • Christmas cookies
  • House Captain charity cake sales

And much, much more!
